What is an Independent bank?

"Independent." There is something uniquely refreshing, distinctively American about the word. Those four short syllables speak volumes about small towns, and old glory stirring slowly in the breeze on a sunny summer day.
If you are one of our customers, you can count on the fact that every aspect of your financial future is handled right here at home. Every product and service is designed with the needs of you and folks just like you in mind. If you're a borrower, every decision that affects your loan is made by people you know. If you're a depositor, your funds are invested right here in the community, helping the entire area to grow and prosper.

We pride ourselves in our customer relations and think of ourselves as the working man's bank. We are the only bank in the county that offers service charge free checking with no minimum balance requirements. The majority of our accounts are personal accounts. We also serve as the depository for the Elkhart Independent School District and the Slocum Independent School District.
